International Circulation:  What is your advice on the effective management of the complications from carotid stenting?

Prof. Gary M. Ansel: Well the common complications are typically embolic stroke and rarely intercranial bleed.  For embolic stroke we have been very fortunate that we don’t see a cut-off.  If we did we would try to capture the debris to try to re-establish blood flow in the brain.  The second thing would be mostly for bleeding then we would reverse the anticoagulation， followed by contemplating whether or not we would have to do surgery to evacuate the bleeding or not.
